May 2012 : Yin Yoga & Retreats

Hello Friends,

It's MAY! Oh, how we love May. There is something so fresh, and so clean about May, no?

It's the true feeling of Spring.

In April, we detoxed. We twisted in asana practice, cleaned our homes and flushed out old debris from winter accumulation.

This May, I am away renewing on some beautiful retreats that you can still join me for!  I will have a few classes on Tuesday nights and some at Plaza Wellness this month with a focus on Yin Yoga.

Gentle, restorative and yin yoga has been more of a theme this year. Holding fewer poses for a longer period of time helps relax and strengthen the connective tissue around your bones and muscles.

April 2012: Detox Poses + Retreats

Hello Friends,

April is here. Spring forth.

In March, we discovered the intricacies of a backbend. We build a mindful stretch through aligning the vertebrae and engaging the front body, as we fall back with ease. This will help you safely open parts of the chest and shoulders, abdomen, hips and thighs. Allow your breath to guide you in backbends. If you feel constrained, or panicked, ease out of the pose until you can relax.

In the spirit of spring cleaning, we focus on yoga asanas that detox the body systems this month.

March 2012: Backbends + Greece Retreat ~

Welcome to March!

Last month, we focused on the heart chakra and how to bring balance to this area of the body through yoga poses, massage, and breath work.

This March, we will explore backbends and how to ease into some specific poses that will help you release tension in the back, shoulders, and chest.

With our modern day lifestyle of hunching over computers and cell phones, increased tension in the neck and back is common. Backbends can help release energy in these areas allowing the breath to flow more smoothly.
