Paul Grilley discusses Prana and Breath in this clip. Part 1/7
- Prana = life force/life energy
- Prana makes you breathe and controls all of our physiology
- Yoga exploits the relationship between prana & breath
- We have voluntary control over our breath
- We can influence our breath: stop it, change the rhythm
- Breath is easy access to prana
- Prana moves the muscles of body that draws air in
- Prana makes us exhale
- Prana beats the heart and acts on the digestive functions
- Prana moves/flows the nerves and coordinates the activity of the chakras
- Breath is an easy, obvious and traditional access to prana
- Prana is the physical energy we are trying to manipulate through the breath
- We are trying to feel prana in our bodies by manipulating our breath
- Three Breathing Postures: Neutral, Expanded and Contracted
- Natural elasticity in the rib-cage and abdominal section
- We are looking to get to a neutral state -- calmness
- If we can conserve prana, gather it, hold it to a chakra - it will change
- Prana will change and transform to an astral awakening
